THE TASK

THE TASK

 The task of working with the Pygmies has been no easy one. As I had already mentioned about my plight and how the Lord led me into this work, that was only going to be the beggining of a three years dedicated service.  It was one of the most trying period of my faith. But I am happy I could take the leap.  For it was only through the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that my heart could have ever possibly been touched. Who am I? Only but a servant. I thought about my childhood favourite song" THE LORD SAYS WHO SHALL I SEND 2x..SEND ME LORD,2x SEND ME LORD I WILL GO " Here was I. The Lord had send me, just like he send Jonah to go to Nineveh, was I going to yield?

 Three years have passed and  I am satisfied and fulfilled at the amount of work that has been met. But all the Praises belong to him. I was just but a tool, a vessel.  But was it very easy at the start? Taking you back to the seminar days ! I returned to Mauritius on thesame Sunday evening that I had attended the FULL GOSPEL Pentecostal Church. But was it going to be easy to lay down my Job at Standard Chartered Bank, and pursue back another trip to Cameroon so as to work with the Pygmies. I remained in communication with the Rev Ebai for the over four months that it took me to put the resources together before finally moving to Cameroon.

 Firstly, I had to resgin at  the Bank.  But  it was madness to most of my Bank Colleagues. Giving up a lucrative Job as Financial Analyst and Internal Audit control, to go work with the Pygmies was nothing they could comprehend.  The Lord was with me, so what else did I need ? " The Lord is my Shepheperd I shall not want . Psalms 23:1 My mother was a very strong support for me. But  just like  my junior Brother, they knew that was a dangerous adventure. In Mauritius it  was well known, that the Pygmies are a hostile tribe that even indulge in Human sacrifices.

 But  even as thier fleshy minds got worried they knew the Lord was my guide and protection. So gently I was able to put the resources together for my trip back to the land of the Pygmies. My home Church in Mauritius ( Calvary Pentecostal Church) even though they could not do much to aid me financially did the best of it all.  They gave me the go ahead to my leap, and with dedicated prayers asked of me to follow the Lords Calling. That was how began the journey of 23 April 2003 to the land of the Pygmies.

Finally in the forest

Finally in the forest, it did not take me long to discover my work will not only include Reaching out the Gospel, but included a large package of medical aids and clothing as well as education. It was therefore getting very obvious me and the Reverend could not handle all of the Work involved. We needed health experts, we needed to create  contacts with the  Cameroonian delegation of health for childhood vaccines and availability of other drugs to the Pygmies. We also needed teachers, and particurlarly those who spoke the local Pygmie languages as well as French. That with the intervention of the Lord was able to get.

 It was easy for most persons to say  "If a foreigner can do it for my country then I can equally do". Several villages that were close to the Baka land, and which were quite developed, were very ready to lend a volunteering hand. The Cameroon Government was getting quite interested as well, and organising  for medical equipments and the aproval of educational instuititions was not much a problem. From the Economic Capital, of Cameroon we were able to secure aids in dresses for the Pygmies. But several of them have preffered to move bare skin.

 More interestingly the Pygmies have a good immunity to Malaria and several other illnesses that affect many other Cameroonians. They will occasionally get an epidemic of Cholera or Meningitis, but what they mostly need is Vaccination for the young, especially Polio. Apart from the physical wants of the Pygmies, much had to be done to change several superstitious believes.  Before we arrived it was believed that ilneeses like leprosy and Epilepsy were a curse from the Gods, and those who had them were often not allowed to associate with others, for it will polute the land.  But as we reached out Christ to them through Crusades and Church services, bible studies and prayer services, many fami;lies were able to drop off such superstitious believes through the convinction of the Holy Spirit.

Three years working with the Pygmies and many now look on the Lord as thier personal Lord and saviour. The seed has only been planted and for as it is continously watered it shall grow...AMEN

                         1 Corinthians 13 - Love

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not LOVE, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not LOVE, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not  LOVE, it profiteth me nothing.

LOVE suffereth long, and is kind; LOVE envieth not; LOVE vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

LOVE never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

And now abideth faith, hope, LOVE, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE.
